One of the most ancient methods of food preservation is sun- or air-drying. Drying works because it removes much of the food's water. Without adequate water, micro-organisms cannot multiply and chemical activities greatly slow down. Dried meat was one of the earliest staple foods of hunters and nomads. Warehouse finally came into being, offering an adequate place for food storage.

NOTE: The reason you need these building is that any Food/Lumber/Stone/Iron that you have stored here will NOT be taken if your city is plundered by attackers. Also, these may increase your total storage capacity of your resources above that listed on the resource itself. Haven't confirmed that yet.
**NOTE: If an attacking player has researched Privateering they can take more of your resources. For each level of Privateering it decreases defenders warehouse ability down by 3% while plundering.
